Kobi Bendelak, CEO of InsurTech Israel, stated yesterday at the Insurtech and Space-Tech conference, held in collaboration with the Israel Space Agency, that after meeting with senior insurance executives in California, there is significant interest in the technological solutions offered by Israeli companies for the insurance sector.

The unique conference, organized by InsurTech Israel and led by Dr. Yael Benvenisti, Deputy CEO of InsurTech Israel, brought together dozens of startups specializing in insurtech, space-tech, and climate-tech. The event was co-hosted by the Israel Space Agency, the Israel Aerospace Industries’ Starburst accelerator program, and the EO-IL community.

Participants included key figures from the Israeli insurance industry, such as CIOs from leading insurance companies, alongside senior executives from the local and international tech sectors. The conference aimed to bridge technological industries with the insurance sector and help them integrate seamlessly.

Innovative Technologies and Cross-Sector Collaboration
The event featured panels, discussions, and lectures highlighting how Israeli technologies are addressing global insurance challenges. Omer Shalev from Gross Orad Schlimoff, Lloyd’s representative in Israel, spoke about Lloyd’s recent initiatives to integrate innovative technologies, particularly in climate and space insurance. He emphasized the critical role of Israeli technologies in these processes and the partnership potential with insurers.

In a panel moderated by Dr. Yael Benvenisti, key insights were shared about the value of cross-sector collaboration. Dr. Binvneshti remarked, “This conference showcases how partnerships between industries like space, climate, and insurance can lead to groundbreaking innovation. We must continue to connect areas previously considered separate.”

Challenging Insurance Through Data-Driven Innovation
Hila Mirel, Head of Development and Innovation at Direct Insurance, highlighted the importance of satellite data-driven solutions for enhancing risk assessments, pricing, and personalized underwriting for customers and their assets.

Diana Berezin, Co-CEO of AON Reinsurance Israel, addressed the importance of developing tools to reduce and prevent losses while integrating them with the insurance industry to create value across the ecosystem—from policyholders to insurers and reinsurers. “Israel’s agility, openness, and adaptability enable its companies to provide real-time solutions, making it a global leader in insurance innovation,” she said.

Meital Shavit, Strategic Partnerships Manager at Sompo’s innovation lab, added, “Beyond developing solutions using satellite data, companies must also focus on creating business models that integrate these innovations into traditional insurance processes. The Israeli ecosystem has a clear advantage in achieving this.”

Yossi Avrahami-Shahar, VP of Innovation at Kanet Insurance company, addressed the impact of climate change on agriculture, stating, “The climate crisis has severely affected agriculture. As a leading insurance company in this field, we closely monitor developments and create comprehensive solutions that support farmers and align with the Ministry of Agriculture’s national food security program. Strengthening collaborations in prediction, precision, and solution implementation is crucial.”

An Unparalleled Opportunity for Israeli Startups
Attendees widely acknowledged the event’s success in showcasing the transformative potential of Israeli technologies in reshaping the global insurance industry. “The integration of innovative solutions in climate, space, and insurance is a crucial step toward improving financial stability and mitigating risks,” noted the participants.

This conference underscored the pivotal role Israeli technologies can play in addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing the insurance industry worldwide.
