Five leading Israeli startups in the insurtech field won a competition held by the Insurtech Israel News magazine, a joint publication of the Polisa newspaper and Insurtech Israel. The judges for the competition included Insurtech Israel News editors Ori Lavi-Peleg and Kobi Bendelak, along with other industry experts.

The competing startups operate in various insurance categories including software, health, underwriting, climate, and travel. The five winning startups are: Air Doctor, Mpcheck, Five Sigma, Oko and Ai-Acumen.

In the Travel category, Air Doctor won: Air Doctor, founded in Israel in 2018, is a startup that connects travelers seeking medical treatment with local doctors abroad through an easy-to-use app. The company manages a global network of over 20,000 doctors in 2,000 cities across 78 countries, aiming to provide accessible healthcare for anyone in need, anywhere in the world, ensuring peace of mind while traveling. Air Doctor offers three types of visits: clinic visits, house calls, and video consultations. Additionally, the video consultation service is available in 21 languages and includes the unique ability to offer valid local prescriptions that patients can fill at nearby pharmacies.

In the Health category, Mpcheck won: Mpcheck is a platform that enables insurance companies to provide advanced medical services through innovative technology and deliver solutions that were previously unachievable. Mpcheck offers personalized medical tests performed at the patient’s home, allowing for tests at the individual’s convenience, including self-tests, with accessibility for users of assistive technology. The company enhances policyholder satisfaction, strengthens their relationship with the insurer, and enables a faster, more accessible service experience. Furthermore, the platform allows insurance companies to better manage risks and reduce claims by promoting preventative medicine and helping policyholders maintain their health and lifestyle. This service turns the insurer from a payer into a partner, strengthening the relationship.

In the Underwriting category, Five Sigma won: Clive, the AI-powered claims adjuster from Five Sigma, is winning awards worldwide and revolutionizing claims management in the global insurance industry. Among other achievements, Five Sigma was recognized in the prestigious InsurTech 100 list by FinTech Global. Thanks to Clive’s innovation, insurers using the technology save between 10-20 hours per claim, reduce claim costs by 20-30%, and lower human error rates by 50-70%. Clive automates routine tasks performed by human claims adjusters and dynamically plans the handling of claims, improving insurers’ operational performance with accurate, meticulous, and automatic treatment. Clive analyzes data from various sources like text, voice, images, and videos, recommending correct courses of action based on the insurer’s internal processes and Five Sigma’s extensive knowledge of claims handling. Clive’s architecture brings advanced AI capabilities to any existing Claims Management System (CMS).

In the Climate category, Oko won: Oko uses satellite and mobile technologies to provide simple and affordable crop insurance to farmers. Oko designs automated climate insurance products that compensate farmers when the weather in their area becomes problematic. Additionally, Oko offers weather alerts, farming tips, and access to microcredit at affordable prices, distributing these tools to farmers in remote areas of developing countries.

In the Software category, Ai-Acumen won: Ai-Acumen specializes in securely organizing data, cleaning it, and aligning it with AI needs while identifying and excluding non-compliant data. AI is transforming industries, particularly insurance, where processes like underwriting, policies, claims handling, and other activities are being partially or fully automated using these technologies. However, the introduction of irrelevant, outdated, or incorrect information—whether by mistake or intentionally—can cause catastrophic damage to core insurance operations.

Ori Lavi-Peleg, the editor-in-chief of Polisa and Insurtech Israel News: “The traditional insurance industry, including insurance agents, has experienced accelerated technological development in recent years, much thanks to the thriving insurtech industry that has emerged in Israel. The digital revolution benefits all parties in the industry—insurance companies, agents, and, of course, end policyholders. I congratulate the five winners of the competition and the entire flourishing Israeli insurtech sector.”

Kobi Bendelak, CEO of Insurtech Israel: “Warm congratulations to the five winning startups for 2025. Special thanks to the judging panel for selecting the winners from a wide range of innovative and groundbreaking startups.
