A new Insurtech hub has been launched in Guatemala, led by Insurtech Israel, marking the beginning of a global expansion of the successful Israeli model. Following two major exits in the past year and a proven track record in the local ecosystem — which includes over 240 startups — Insurtech Israel is now setting its sights on global approach and the first location will be in Latin America, one of the fastest-growing markets in the world.
The insurance industry is undergoing a dramatic digital transformation, and Guatemala, through a close collaboration with Insurtech Israel, is positioning itself at the forefront of this revolution. The newly established hub is designed to accelerate the digitization of the insurance sector across the region and represents a unique opportunity to bring Israeli innovation to a vibrant and expanding market.
Globally, Insurtech — the fusion of insurance and technology — is redefining the role of insurance: from a reactive service that intervenes in times of crisis, to a proactive, personalized partner that supports individuals throughout their lives, anticipating risks and helping to prevent them before they occur.
The new hub was established through a strategic partnership between Insurtech Israel, Guatemalan insurance leader Seguros El Roble, and key players from the financial, tech, and academic sectors. Its mission is to promote innovation in digital insurance, foster local entrepreneurship, and train a new generation of developers, analysts, and tech leaders. The hub will serve as a centre for knowledge, development, and investment, attracting startups, traditional insurance companies, regulators, and investors from across the region and the globe.

Guatemala was selected as the first location for this international expansion due to its abundant tech talent, young and engaged population, and strong universities. Furthermore, the growing strategic ties between the country and Israel in recent years played a crucial role. Built on trust, shared values, and a mutual commitment to innovation, this collaboration sets the stage for long-term partnerships. For Insurtech Israel, this is not only a business opportunity but also a mission to strengthen bilateral relations through technology and entrepreneurship.
Alon Lavi, Israel’s Ambassador to Guatemala, stated:
“Insurtech Guatemala is an important milestone in building bridges between Israel and Guatemala. Our historic relationship has already produced many fruitful partnerships — and now, we’re embarking on a new technological collaboration in the field of insurance innovation.”
Kobi Bendelak, CEO of Insurtech Israel, and Dr. Yael Benvenisti, Deputy CEO, added:
“Insurtech Israel is proud to be part of this journey to position Guatemala — and the wider Latin American region — as a hub for insurtech innovation. We believe this collaboration holds great economic, social, and technological potential. By sharing our expertise, resources, and network, we aim to build a strong ecosystem that will promote entrepreneurship, create jobs, attract investment, and deliver advanced, accessible insurance products to the people of the region. This is a significant step in both regional development and in strengthening the economic and innovation ties between Israel and Latin America.”
