Ledgertech won the gold award at the Qorus-NTT DATA Innovation in Insurance Awards 2025 in the Insurtech category for its Automated Pay-As-You-Go travel insurance. Eran Tirer, CEO and Founder of Ledgertech, speaks with us about this innovative project and what the win means to him.

Can you introduce yourself and tell us more about your role at Ledgertech?

My name is Eran Tirer, and I’m the CEO and founder of Ledgertech. At our core, we’re an embedded insurance technology company focused on enabling insurers and partners to bring new products to market faster—in weeks rather than months—and distribute them directly within the everyday digital journeys of customers. My role involves steering both the business strategy and product direction to ensure we keep delivering relevant, scalable, and truly transformative solutions for our partners and their end users.

What made you most proud of the winning project? What was your greatest achievement in making it happen?

The most meaningful achievement was reinventing travel insurance from the ground up to fit the embedded world—not just squeezing a legacy product into a new channel. We created a usage-based, fully digital travel solution that activates automatically when users cross a border and charges only for the days they actually travel.

What makes me proud is that this wasn’t just a tech implementation—it was a rethinking of what travel protection should feel like in the modern world: seamless, fair, and invisible until needed. Seeing this idea go live, with real-time activation and billing integrated into platforms like mobile operators or eSIM providers, felt like a leap forward not just for us, but for insurance as a whole.

What’s the most important thing you would tell someone considering embarking on a similar project?

Start by making sure there’s true product-market fit—not just for the insurance product itself, but for how it lives and breathes within the host channel. That means designing with the end-user context in mind and working in an environment that allows flexibility, iteration, and fast configuration. A rigid product will never thrive in a dynamic embedded world. If you can’t adapt quickly to the channel’s needs and user behavior, you’ll lose relevance.

What’s coming next for the project?

We’re already expanding beyond individual travel use cases to cover group and corporate travel. We’re also integrating with travel CRM platforms and loyalty systems to unlock smarter engagement—for example, enabling usage-based policies that activate and deactivate in sync with travel data, streamline policy issuance, and offer cashless global care with minimal manual input.

What would you say to companies that might consider entering the 2026 Insurance Innovation Awards?

Go for it—but go with something bold. This is a platform that rewards not just digital upgrades, but true innovation that changes how insurance works or is experienced. If you’ve built something that rethinks distribution, customer experience, or underwriting—this is your stage to be recognized and to inspire others.

What does this award mean to you and your innovation team?

It’s a powerful moment of validation—not just for the technology, but for the mindset we bring to insurance: user-first, flexible, and forward-looking. We’re incredibly honored to receive the gold award, and it means a lot to our entire team, who have worked tirelessly to build something new, meaningful, and scalable. This recognition reminds us that we’re not just building features—we’re helping shape the future of insurance.
